The Roman II bean is a variety adapted from the Roman bean. This variety grows in the shape of a bush, and therefore does not need a pole or support. The pods will grow in groups, making them easy to pick by hand. Because green beans are annual, you can simply pull the root from the ground when it’s time to pick them.

These seeds should do well in a variety of soils, with warm temperatures. You can sow them by placing the seeds just one inch beneath the surface in soil, with four inches between plants and eighteen to twenty four inches between rows. Beans need light, but even, watering. Because the leaves can become afflicted with disease if made wet, you should water as close to the root as possible. If you do find that a leaf has become diseased, remove it from the plant immediately, as the disease can spread. This variety of bean can take a little longer to mature than others, but should be picked when they are four to six inches long. Leaving mature beans on the plant can stop or slow production, so be sure to keep an eye on these beans.
The Roma II is a high yielding, widely adapted, bush Roman bean with pods resembling those of the traditional pole Romano.
