Pisum sativum. Green Pea Shoots are a a staff favorite here at True Leaf! Unlike the other varieties of peas we carry, our Organic Green Pea is the most tentrilly and the sweetest. The tendrils add a unique texture while the stems have the same familiar crunch and sweet flavor of full grown peas. *Attention Micro-growers: Our organic green pea is a non-varietal pea. Our current lot does not produce as many tendrils as you may be used to. For tendrils we would recommend our organic yellow pea instead.*

Pea shoots, also known as pea microgreens, usually have very prominent root systems, which is why it is primarily grown in soil. The roots like to burrow and explore the soil while taking hold so the shoots can start "shooting" up. It is possible to get them to thrive with the right hydroponic medium.
